Inclusion recognizes that the diversity of employees ensures a company’s success—not impede it.\nWhen it comes to LGBTQ+ employees\, inclusion considers factors that many heterosexual or cisgender people take for granted. It encourages inclusion for those across the wide spectrum of sexualities and gender identities. \nIn this workshop\, we will go beyond race and explore issues related to female inclusion in the workplace; the LGBTQ+ Community and how to be an ally\, the importance of the use of proper pronouns and how to navigate political issues in the workplace which have become the new workplace bias as it relates to COVID vaccines and masking requirements. \nWhile we certainly cannot solve all diversity inequities in an hour\, we will leave you with a lot to think about and how to start the process in your own workplace. \nThis presentation is eligible for one (1) credit hour in the following categories: \n\nCLM App: Organizational Development\nCLM Functional Specialty: HR Management\nRecertification: HR Management\n\nTHIS PRESENTATION IS FREE FOR ALA MEMBERS AND BUSINESS PARTNERS \nCOST FOR LUNCH/PRESENTATION FOR GUESTS IS $60. \nIN PERSON RSVP \nVIRTUAL RSVP \nABOUT THE PRESENTER \nJENNIFER JACOBUS has worked for the San Diego Employers Association since 1988 and is considered an expert in the field of Human Resources.  Jennifer conducts Human Resources audits\, drafts and reviews employee handbooks\, and provides advice and assistance with employer-employee/employment related issues as well as training.J \nJennifer has been certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) nationally since 2002 as well as with the state of California since 2008\, through the Human Resources Certificate Institute.  Jennifer was named HR Professional of the Year\, Business Nonprofit\, in 2011 through the San Diego Business Journal.  She also received a Human Resources certification through the College of Extended Studies through the University of California San Diego. \nJennifer has created and conducted training in the areas of employment law\, exempt and non-exempt status\, harassment\, sensitivity and diversity and inclusion.  She was a speaker for the San Diego HR Collaboration Event\, is often asked to speak at Rotaries around San Diego County\, writes articles for the San Diego County Apartment Association’s Rental Owner Magazine and has been asked to be a guest blogger for the Better Business Bureau\, San Diego. \n  \nCOVID-19 UPDATES FOR IN PERSON MEETINGS \nThe ALA San Diego chapter board will continue to monitor and follow CDC\, State\, and local guidelines for our in-person meetings and events. All educational meetings will be available both in-person and virtual unless stated otherwise.  \nCurrently masks at in-person events are highly recommended for those who are vaccinated. Masks are required for unvaccinated members and guests. \nReasonable safety measures will be implemented\, including limiting the number of people to 4 per table\, hotel staff will be masked during event\, and masks will be available should members or guests need one.  \nThis may be subject to change based on the latest COVID-19 updates and guidelines.
