Established downtown law firm is seeking an experienced litigation secretary with a minimum of five years’ experience supporting a busy civil litigation practice. Responsibilities and skills include document management and organization; preparation of draft documents, shells, and pleadings; correspondence; filing and e-filing in state and federal courts, preparing draft judicial council forms for various court-related hearings; preparing attorneys for depositions and trial, including preparation of exhibits; all aspects of trial preparation; communicating with firm personnel, clients, vendors and other third parties; competency in software applications, including word processing, document management software, spreadsheet and database management, calendaring, and forms programs.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ litigation experience
- Working knowledge of general legal concepts, terminology, and principles
- Knowledge of rules of court, particularly California
- Good project management skills
- Attention to detail, time management, good judgment, and solid organizational skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, and excellent proofreading skills
- Well-developed interpersonal skills
- High degree of professionalism
- Experience in law firm practice groups
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and .pdf programs, including formatting, TOCs and TOAs, and Bates labeling
- Knowledge/understanding of document management systems, preferably iManage
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
