Annual Diversity Event – Law Firm DEI Under the Legal Microscope

Inclusion of diverse talent is critical to a law firm’s success.  At the same time, DEI programs are under increased scrutiny as a result of a relatively recent Supreme Court decision, the President’s executive order and the EEOC’s enforcement actions.

This program will provide a legal framework for evaluating your legal exposure arising out of your DEI program.   It will discuss not only practices which are unlawful but also those which are high risk and alternatives to them.

The program also will include specific steps for auditing your exposure and alternative methods of corrective action.

About the speaker

Jonathan is a partner at Duane Morris LLP in its Employment Group.  He also is the Founder of the Duane Morris Institute, which provides business-focused training to HR professionals in-house counsel and other business leaders on myriad employment issues.

Jonathan’s practice focuses on maximizing legal compliance, minimizing legal risk and marrying culture with compliance.  The core of Jonathan’s practice is helping clients to develop systems to prevent discrimination, harassment and retaliation and to respond to alleged or actual discrimination, harassment and retaliation. In this regard, Jonathan provides direction and guidance to clients on privileged and non-privileged investigations.

Jonathan also works with employers (including law firms) to help minimize their legal exposure with regard to their DEI programs. This work focuses not only on policies and practices but also on other communications and culture.

Jonathan has provided training to federal judges and other members of the federal judiciary on various employment issues for more than 25 years.

Jonathan has testified before the EEOC in Washington and Congressional Committees on various employment issues, including harassment.

Jonathan was appointed to and an active member of the EEOC’s Task Force on Harassment

At national and local levels, Jonathan has spoken at conferences sponsored by EEOC on topics such as religion, sexual and other forms of harassment, and ethical EEO compliance.

Jonathan has published almost 450 articles or blogs on third-party platforms, such as Bloomberg, Fortune, Entrepreneur and SHRM.
