HOW TO HAVE PRIDE IN YOUR WORKPLACE
PRESENTED BY: JENNIFER JACOBUS, PHR, PHR-CA
Diversity and Inclusion has become a hot topic over the last year-and-a-half, and for good reason. Many companies that may be taking this important initiative on for the first time have started with their focus on race-related diversity and inclusion; but we know there is so much more.
For all kinds of diversity training, “inclusion” refers to the idea that all individuals in a workplace should be treated respectfully and fairly and given equal access to resources and opportunities. Inclusion recognizes that the diversity of employees ensures a company’s success—not impede it.
When it comes to LGBTQ+ employees, inclusion considers factors that many heterosexual or cisgender people take for granted. It encourages inclusion for those across the wide spectrum of sexualities and gender identities.
In this workshop, we will go beyond race and explore issues related to female inclusion in the workplace; the LGBTQ+ Community and how to be an ally, the importance of the use of proper pronouns and how to navigate political issues in the workplace which have become the new workplace bias as it relates to COVID vaccines and masking requirements.
While we certainly cannot solve all diversity inequities in an hour, we will leave you with a lot to think about and how to start the process in your own workplace.
This presentation is eligible for one (1) credit hour in the following categories:
- CLM App: Organizational Development
- CLM Functional Specialty: HR Management
- Recertification: HR Management
THIS PRESENTATION IS FREE FOR ALA MEMBERS AND BUSINESS PARTNERS
COST FOR LUNCH/PRESENTATION FOR GUESTS IS $60.
