Tammie McQuain, executive director at Morris Polich & Purdy LLP, took over as president of the Association of Legal Administrators’ San Diego chapter earlier this month. A chapter member for five years, she will serve as president until March 2017.
McQuain succeeds Anna Rushworth, human resources director at Higgs Fletcher & Mack LLP, who now takes the board position of immediate past-president.
Other board members who were presented at the group’s annual leadership dinner include: Shaila Schaible, director of finance at Higgs Fletcher & Mack LLP, as president-elect and education chair; Karen Lemmon, office manager at England Ponticello & St. Clair, as vice president and membership chair; Cynthia Barron, office manager/legal assistant at Fitzgerald Knaier LLP, as treasurer; and Stephen Williamson, office manager at Sullivan Law Firm APC, as secretary.
Board directors announced include Wendy Connor, office manager at Best, Best & Krieger, as director of business partner relations; Carrie Merzbacher, patent administrator at Sony Corp. of America, as director, bank statement auditor; Katya Adams, office administrator at Watkins Firm, APC, as director at large.
During her term, McQuain said her goals for the chapter include keeping members engaged by working together as a team and creating succession planning for board positions. She wants to continue recognizing business partners that support the ALA chapter, standardize the chapter website and encourage members to participate and become a Certified Legal Manager (CLM). The chapter also will work with other organizations this year on two fundraising events: Couture for a Cause and the 5K Challenge for Charity.
